Starlit Grassland Movie Screening – Join Us at the Art Museum to Watch Movies!

Notes:

  1. Free popcorn will be provided on-site! Feel free to bring your own container (and picnic mats)!
  2. This event is open to the public, so feel free to invite friends and family to join. (Limited parking at the Art Museum, so we encourage taking public transportation. Please also follow the university's pandemic prevention guidelines.)

【Screening Information】

  • November 15 (Tue) Rescue Unemployment / Directed by Chen Xiujing, Department of Social Work, Asia University

    • Plot Summary: With a shelter for homeless women about to close in three months, social workers help the women by developing their "vocational skills" to find employment and give them a second chance in life. Directed by Louis-Julian Pette, this film uses comedy to address a serious social issue, featuring actors from real-life homeless individuals.
  • November 16 (Wed) There Are Some Trees / Directed by Professor Xiao Zhibang, Department of Social Work, Asia University

    • Plot Summary: This Malaysian film explores racial conflict, with the backdrop of policies that sow hatred and division. It traces the history of violence and discrimination that started in 1969, delving into the untold history of indigenous people and the racial riots in Malaysia.
  • November 17 (Thu) The Pain of My Name / Directed by Lin Yujun, Taiwan LGBT Hotline Association

    • Plot Summary: In Uganda, a new law threatens the lives of LGBTQ individuals. The country's first openly gay person, David Kato, and his fellow activists fight to repeal the law while facing daily persecution. But when a brutal murder shakes their movement, it sends shockwaves around the world.
  • November 18 (Fri) 2040 / Directed by Liu Caiyuan, Executive Director, Wufeng District Wan Feng Community Development Association

    • Plot Summary: A hopeful documentary discussing how humanity can reverse environmental damage through the use of current technologies and solutions. The film, presented as a letter to the director's 4-year-old daughter, envisions a cleaner world by 2040.
